Holiday Inn Vietnam

During the Vietnam war, parody posters and t shirts riffing on famous slogans would become widely available both in the US and on bases incountry. The Fly the Friendly Skies slogan of United Airlines would be mocked and utilised by USAF FACS on their Fly the Friendly Skies of Vietnam and Cambodia tees.

Similarly, the Holiday Inn’s famous ad campaign would be co opted into humorous Holiday in Vietnam t shirts for the cast and crew of Apocalypse Now. The phrase would also be riffed by the punk rock band Dead Kennedys on their 1979 song Holiday in Cambodia.
