TWT x Izzy Buttle

TWT x Izzy Buttle

In an effort to capture the T.W.T experience, we asked a few regulars if they wouldn't mind telling the story.... service with a smile, some beautiful wares, all complimented with a laugh, a brew and a good yarn or two.

First up in our most recent shoot was none other than assistant designer for Duncan Mclean Newtown Izzy Buttle. We've got to know her as we have worked with both her & Duncan throughout the last year, and have loved growing this partnership with such an awesome brand and an awesome team. And keep watching this space, we reckon there might be some exciting things planned!

We chatted to her about what makes her tick outside the denim world.

HOW: did you end up where you are today / doing what you do?
I have always loved everything to do with fashion. Dressing up, making clothing, styling, you name it, I've given it a go. I studied Fashion design at Massey University in Wellington and have worked in the industry ever since. I am now Assistant Designer for Duncan McLean in Newtown where I design, cut and sew denim fashion. Come and visit us if you want any jeans or denim adjacent clothing!

WHY: Wellington?
Because it's my home town. I lived in Australia for most of my career in fashion but my heart has always been in Wellington. The wind may be stressful at times, but this city has a heart, a creative heart that warms my soul.

WHERE: is your #1 overseas destination?
Copenhagen! I loved it because of its clean fresh beautiful fashion that is unlike my usual go-to grungy fashion that you find here in Wellington or North Melbourne where I lived for 5years. Copenhagen inspired me in ways I didn't expect.

WHAT: is on heavy rotate for you at the moment?
I'm walking a lot and enjoying it a lot. Wellington is such a walkable city and there are so many beautiful green spaces, million dollar views at almost every corner and too many bays to count. The water looks so inviting, but it's so damn cold haha.

WHO: are your current sources of inspiration?
Nature for sure. You can learn just as much from nature as you can from reading the news.
