Tom Woodhall - Owner/senior barber
Tom has almost a decade of cutting experience under his belt, working at some of Wellington finest barbering institutions.
Seeing the need for a complete locale for men, and wanting to combine his love of workwear & exceptional clothing, he made the bold move to open his own venture in 2021.

Ben 'punchy' pearson - senior barber
Hailing from the UK, Ben trained at the prestigious London School of Barbering. A well-seasoned professional with almost a decades worth of experience, he is firmly established as one of the best in the city.
Ben loves to take time with each of his clients – making sure they leave with a cut they love, and one that will work with their daily routine. He has extensive knowledge in working with all hair types, as well as expertise in fine hair and hair loss products. He brings an openness to cater to all genders and makes sure everyone feels welcome & comfortable.

Mak Azores - Senior barber
Born and raised in the Philippines, Mak Azores has always been passionate about the art of barbering. In 2016, he founded Heavyhands Barbershop & for four years the shop became a local hub for style and community until it was forced to close in 2020 due to the global pandemic.
In 2021, Mak travelled to Dubai, where he continued to hone his skills, before moving to New Zealand in 2023. This breadth of experience his allowed him to draw upon a diverse range of technique, understanding and exceptional quality.
Today, he remains dedicated to delivering not just quality haircuts, but also an experience built on care, detail, and professionalism.
Beyond the chair, you’ll often find Mak behind the camera lens, chronicling the diverse Wellington music scene, or with guitar in hand.
Cameron McKeating - Apprentice barber
Cameron has been part of the team at That was then this is now since 2023. This year, he has made the leap from the retail floor to the barbershop, completing his barbering qualification at te auaha.
cameron will be taking apprentice bookings every tuesday, conducted under the watchful eye of our senior barbers, in store at that was then.
