Every pair of ODs are born out of an adventure of friends trawling flea markets and antique stores around the world for the ultimate in timeless eyewear. Once found, they are reimagined in their London workroom - paying homage to the classic and creating a perfectly modern and unique interpretation.
Unapologetically bold, Mertz is based on a squared-off silhouette straight out of 1980s Berlin. Thick temples. Sharp edges. Built with attitude and designed to stand its ground. Revive: Found these in a dusty Berlin backroom full of battered hinges and forgotten stock. Most of it was junk until Mertz turned up. Brutal and bold. Proper 80s energy. We knew we had something. Reframe: We smoothed the angles, balanced the lenses with subtle curves, and let the clean lines do the talking. Built like they mean business, serious, but refined.
The final frames are crafted from hand-finished Mazzucchelli acetate. Italian, if that weren’t obvious, and top quality since 1849. The tinted lenses, made from lightweight CR-39 plastic and coated for proper UV protection. Every case is made in collaboration with London-based leather artisan and mate, Otis Ingrams. Each one is from 2 pieces of recycled composite leather, 4 brass rivets and one brass stud.
